Danny Rea, a local 20 year-old deaf player was part of the Great Britain Deaf Football team which secured 3rd place at the 8th staging of the European Deaf Football Championships in Hanover (Germany) last month. Great Britain recorded victories over Russia, Denmark, Czech Republic and Sweden en route to the semi-finals before an unlucky defeat to eventual champions Turkey. Great Britain secured Bronze by defeating Ukraine in the 3rd/4th place play-off match.

Danny enjoyed the experience immensely. He is grateful for the support from his managers, coaches, team-mates and those who helped him with funding for the event. He stated ‘Winning the Bronze medal at my first tournament ever was incredible and I hope I’ll be involved in many more tournaments to come. I am still buzzing from it all and I have the bronze medal hanging on my television!’
