Anthony Sinclair heads up the NIDS Deaf Tennis Coaching Programme. Anthony is an approved UK LTA Level 4 (Head/Senior Coach) tennis coach and the Founder and Director of LoveTennisNI.

Anthony’s playing career has taken him all over the world and at the height of his playing career he rated 2nd in the world deaf rankings. The playing highlights include Gold in the Deaflympics in Taiwan 2009 (first ever Gold Medalist from Northern Ireland), and silver in Melbourne 2005, where he became Great Britain’s first Deaflympian in a men’s singles final for 70 years. He ranked in the top 3 in Ireland at junior levels (mainstream) and represented Ulster Senior Interprovincial at the age of 15.

Anthony’s business, LoveTennisNI, is the largest club in Northern Ireland outside the capital city with a number of private national players, 14 junior programmes, 3 senior programmes and 10 schools programmes each month. He also runs a number of tennis camps throughout the year for children from 4 to 16 years.

Anthony’s ambition is to develop Deaf Tennis across Northern Ireland. He is currently coaching deaf children and adults in the Belfast area. Since he began to play tennis he has never seen a deaf person compete at a high level in Ireland. There is now specialist provision for deaf people to get involved tennis and therefore he would like to encourage deaf people to play for fun and fitness and, with time, at a competitive level.

Anthony graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree with Coaching from Sheffield Hallam University in 2008. He also graduated with a HND Sport Development and Coaching 2005. He is currently studying a PGCE (Teacher Training course) at the University of Ulster in Belfast which he will complete in 2016.

Anthony is fully compliant with all first aid and child protection legislation in both the UK and Ireland.
